Open Water Meet

On Sunday 19th July, Kelly, Dave and Thomas Rozee and Rachel Harris travelled up to Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre in Norwich for the ASA East Region 2015 Open Water Championships and Age Group Competitions.

After a very early start, Thomas was first to swim the 800m novice event and came in an incredible 4th place for his age (11-12 year olds) in the county and 9th regionally, an outstanding performance for his first open water competition.

Kelly, Rachel and Dave then took to the water for their 1500m event. Despite the very windy conditions and a mass of weeds in the lake, they all swam very well. Rachel came in 6th in the county for her age group of 12-16 year olds and placed 24th in the region, a great achievement considering this was also her first open water event. Dave came 3rd in Essex and 4th regionally in his age category and Kelly a very impressive 1st in Essex and 1st regionally and Dave and Kelly are now the proud owners of county and for Kelly, regional medals. Very well done to all of them.

If anyone from the club would be interested in joining them next year, or in just giving open water swimming a try, please speak to Dave at training.
